MESSAGE BY THE HONORARY PRESIDENT OF THE HOSPITAL, N. PAPAGEORGIOU
Both myself and the Hospital's Board of Directors have had a vision and a plan for the futute and have considered our roles as a personal duty and our life's work.
Since the hospital was built and the equipment installed, our only goal was for the hospital to become a model and operate at the same level as the hospitals in developed European countries. After more than nine years of operation, the high quality of services the hospital provides to the citizens of Thessaloniki and Northern Greece in general, is already universally acknowledged.
However, we will not stop here. We will continue our efforts and will now concentrate on training and research.
Our staff, who has shared our vision from the start, are constantly giving their best to cater to the needs of the patients with responsibility and dignity, fully realizing they have a very critical role to play.
The hospital's structure and the various facets of our work are presented on our website. I invite you and urge you to visit it, for your reference while always wishing that you may NEVER NEED US.
PAPAGEORGIOU NIKOLAOS
MESSAGE BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE BoD, V. PAPAS
On behalf of the members of the Board of Directors and all the employees, I welcome you to the website of your Hospital, which was designed to provide visitors with required information, contact details and to better serve our fellow citizens.
True to the vision of brothers Nikolaos and Leonidas Papageorgiou, Benefactors of the Hospital, and through the efforts of all past and present members of the Board of Directors, of its staff, as well as due to the continuous participation of the Papageorgiou Foundation to the management, citizens have acknowledged the Hospital's quality of services as well as the staff's scientific qualifications, altruism, and eagerness.
After more than ten years of operation and according to a recent evaluation by an international committee conducted on behalf of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the Papageorgiou Hospital can be considered to be equal to the best hospitals in Europe.
The truth is that we try to improve every day. We improve the infrastructure, we renew and modernize the medical equipment and emphasize on staff training and education.
We strive daily to increase productivity, reduce unnecessary expenses and operating costs, achieving great results, as these are reflected in the comparative data recently published online by the Ministry of Health.
It should also be mentioned that we are alone in our efforts, without the assistance we had expected from the state.
As a result of the way the Papageorgiou Hospital operates, there is a very high number of citizens coming to the hospital from the entire Northern Greece region. This, based on the existing infrastructure, results in an inability to meet the increasing demand and for this reason we ask for your understanding, with the hope that, when primary health care is fully operational in our country, the Papageorgiou Hospital will be able to operate, based on its infrastructure, as a tertiary Hospital.
Until then, we will always strive for the best.
